Blok / Terms of Service
Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of Blok, a neighborhood community app for local sharing, conversation, and mutual help.
The short version
Use Blok lawfully and respectfully. You keep ownership of your content while allowing us to operate and display it in the service. Some optional features require credits or a paid Neighbor Pass subscription through the Apple App Store.
- Blok is intended for adults aged 18 or older.
- Do not post illegal, harmful, deceptive, hateful, or privacy-invasive content.
- Credits are consumable in-app items; Neighbor Pass renews automatically until cancelled.
- Apple handles App Store payment, billing, cancellation, and refunds.
1. Acceptance and eligibility
By creating an account, accessing, or using Blok, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Blok.
Blok is intended only for individuals who are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding agreement. By using Blok, you represent that you meet these requirements. We may restrict or terminate access if we reasonably believe an account does not qualify.
We may update these Terms as Blok changes. We will post the revised version and update the effective date. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or request consent.
2. Accounts and security
You may sign in with a supported email method or Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, account credentials, and activity on your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
Provide accurate information, keep it reasonably current, and do not impersonate another person or organization. Accounts are personal and may not be sold, transferred, or shared except as we expressly permit.
Deleting a Blok account removes access to the service and initiates deletion of account data as described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting your Blok account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription. Apple subscriptions must be managed through your Apple Account.
3. Community rules
Blok is designed for constructive local sharing and help. You are responsible for how you interact with others, both in the app and when arranging an in-person exchange.
- Use reasonable judgment and follow local law when meeting, exchanging items, or providing help.
- Do not post misleading listings, solicit unlawful services, or misrepresent an item, request, identity, or affiliation.
- Do not harass, threaten, stalk, discriminate against, or defraud another person.
- Do not arrange or offer dangerous, regulated, stolen, counterfeit, or prohibited goods or services.
- Do not disclose another person's private information without permission.
Blok does not guarantee the identity, conduct, safety, quality, legality, or availability of any user, listing, item, service, arrangement, or location. Use caution and report concerning behavior.
4. Your content and permissions
You retain ownership of content you create, including profile details, photos, posts, comments, messages, and other submissions. You grant Blok a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, display, and distribute that content as necessary to operate, secure, moderate, and improve Blok.
You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit your content and to grant this license. You allow us to make technical changes needed to format, deliver, or protect the content.
We may remove or restrict content that violates these Terms, applicable law, or the safety of the community. We may preserve and disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to address abuse, fraud, security, or serious harm.
Messages are not promised to be end-to-end encrypted. Do not use Blok to send government identifiers, financial account details, health records, passwords, exact home addresses, or other highly sensitive information.
5. Moderation, reporting, and blocking
Blok provides tools to report content or users and to block users. We may review reports, request additional information, remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts, or take other proportionate action.
We do not guarantee that every report will result in removal or that reported content will be removed before you encounter it. Do not rely on Blok to prevent harm. In an emergency, contact local emergency services.
Blocking may limit a blocked user's ability to interact with you, but does not guarantee that you will not encounter that person elsewhere or through other accounts.
6. Location and local communities
Blok may ask for device location permission during setup so it can help identify your ZIP code or local community. If you deny permission or location cannot be determined, you may be able to enter or search for a ZIP code manually.
Community membership does not prove residency and may not correspond exactly to a political or postal boundary. Location-derived information is used subject to the Privacy Policy.
7. Credits
Blok may offer credits as consumable in-app items. Credits can be used only for eligible features that display a credit price. The amount, purchase terms, and balance will be shown in the app.
Credits are a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Blok feature for which they are purchased. They have no cash value, do not constitute money or stored value, and cannot be sold, exchanged, transferred, or redeemed for cash except where required by law.
Unless the purchase screen says otherwise, purchased credits do not expire while used in good faith. We may adjust credit balances to correct errors, suspected fraud, chargebacks, duplicate transactions, or violations of these Terms.
Credit purchases are completed through Apple. Prices are shown by the App Store in your local currency before confirmation. Refund requests are handled under Apple's policies and applicable law.
8. Neighbor Pass subscription
Neighbor Pass is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the benefits described on the purchase screen. The available billing periods, localized price, included benefits, and any included consumable credits are shown before you confirm a purchase.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current paid period. Apple may charge the renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
You can manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple Account's subscription settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; access normally continues until the end of the current paid period. Deleting Blok, signing out, or deleting your Blok account does not cancel the Apple subscription.
The Blok Neighbor Pass Membership and Auto-Renewal Agreement forms part of these Terms. If a specific subscription offer states different terms, the offer disclosure controls for that purchase to the extent of the conflict.
9. App Store purchases
In-app purchases and subscriptions are billed by Apple, not directly by Blok. Apple controls the App Store payment flow, transaction records, subscription management, and the refund process. Blok does not receive or store your full payment card details.
A purchase may remain pending while Apple processes it. Credits or membership benefits will be applied after the transaction is confirmed and verified. We may need to restore purchases on another installation when Apple provides a valid restored transaction.
Nothing in these Terms limits non-waivable refund or consumer rights. Where Apple cannot resolve a billing issue, contact us at blokiosfeedback@uponblok.com and we will provide reasonable assistance.
Apple. If you use Blok on an iOS device, the following minimum terms apply: Apple is not responsible for the Service and is not a party to these Terms; Apple has no obligation to furnish support or maintenance; Apple is not liable for any claims relating to the Service, including product liability, failure to conform to legal requirements, or third-party intellectual property claims; Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you; and you must comply with the applicable App Store terms.
10. Prohibited conduct
You must not:
- Use Blok for unlawful, fraudulent, exploitative, or harmful purposes.
- Interfere with the app, servers, networks, security controls, or another user's access.
- Access data through scraping, automated collection, or unauthorised means.
- Upload malware or attempt to bypass moderation, rate limits, payment controls, or account restrictions.
- Copy, sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit Blok except as permitted by law or written agreement.
- Reverse engineer the app except where the restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains the personal information we process, why we process it, how we share it, and the choices available to you. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
12. Intellectual property
Blok and its licensors own the app, service, visual design, software, trademarks, logos, and other materials supplied by Blok, excluding your content. These Terms grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Blok in accordance with these Terms and applicable App Store rules.
No ownership rights are transferred to you. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
13. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Blok infringes your copyright, send a notice to blokiosfeedback@uponblok.com. Include your contact details, identification of the protected work, identification of the allegedly infringing material, a good-faith statement that the use is unauthorised, a statement that your notice is accurate, and confirmation that you are authorised to act for the rights owner.
We may remove or disable material while reviewing a notice, request additional information, notify the uploader, and take action against repeat infringement.
14. Third-party services
Blok uses services provided by Apple and other providers for functions such as authentication, cloud hosting, messaging, notifications, analytics, attribution, diagnostics, and payment verification. Those providers may process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Blok is not responsible for third-party products or services that it does not control, except to the extent required by law.
15. Service changes
We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features, communities, credits, subscription benefits, or the service as a whole. We will provide notice where required by law. We do not guarantee that every feature, plan, community, or content item will remain available.
Some features depend on network access, device compatibility, operating-system support, Apple services, or third-party providers and may be unavailable temporarily.
16. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Blok at any time and may delete your account through the in-app account controls. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access if you materially violate these Terms, create a legal or security risk, engage in fraud or abuse, or if we discontinue the service.
Termination of a Blok account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription. You remain responsible for managing any active subscription through your Apple Account.
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including content licenses needed for legal compliance, intellectual-property terms, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute provisions, will survive.
17. Disclaimers
Blok is provided “as is” and “as available” to the fullest extent permitted by law. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Blok is not an emergency service, professional advice service, identity-verification service, background-check service, or guarantee of any user's conduct. Always use independent judgment and appropriate safety precautions.
18. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Blok and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, opportunities, or goodwill arising from or relating to the service.
Where liability cannot be excluded, the aggregate liability relating to these Terms or the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Blok through the App Store during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars. Limits that are not permitted by applicable law do not apply.
19. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Blok and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising from your content, your use of Blok, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights.
20. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the Federal Arbitration Act applies to the arbitration provisions below.
Talk first. Before filing a formal claim, send a written description of the dispute and the relief sought to blokiosfeedback@uponblok.com and allow thirty (30) days for informal resolution.
Arbitration. If the dispute remains, a single arbitrator in Wilmington, Delaware decides it under the American Arbitration Association’s Consumer Arbitration Rules, in a final and binding individual arbitration. Relief may be awarded only on an individual basis, and a court with jurisdiction may enter judgment on the award.
No class proceedings. Claims are brought solely in an individual capacity; neither party may act as a class representative or member, and the arbitrator may not join claims or preside over a collective proceeding. The parties waive trial by jury.
Exceptions and opt-out. A qualifying individual claim may go to small claims court, and a party may ask a court for equitable relief to protect intellectual property. To reject arbitration, send written notice within thirty (30) days of first accepting these Terms. If a part of this section is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
21. General terms
These Terms and the incorporated Privacy Policy and Neighbor Pass Agreement are the entire agreement between you and Blok concerning the service, except for additional terms shown for a particular feature or purchase.
If a provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign your rights without our written permission; we may assign these Terms as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or transfer of the service.
Notices may be provided in the app, by email, or through another reasonable method. You are responsible for keeping your contact information current.
